At least 10 protesters, including a 12-year-old child, were killed, and 15 others were wounded, Wednesday Feb. 24, during the Iranian security authorities’ suppression of a protest demonstration, in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan, in the south of the country.
Local sources said that Iranian security forces, backed by the Revolutionary Guards, killed at least 10 people, and injured at least five others, while suppressing the demonstration.
A 12-year-old boy named Hassan Muhammad Zahi, was among the dead, and another person named Muhammad Saleh Muqtadi, from the city of Chourou, according to the sources.
It is noteworthy that since last Monday, the border province has witnessed daily protests, after the security forces killed people claiming to be smuggling fuel on the Pakistani border, as some merchants closed their shops in the cities of Zahedan, Iranshahr, Sarafan and Chikigur, while the demonstrators set fire to tires and garbage containers in the streets of some cities.
Some demonstrators stormed a police station in the city of Sarsangel, and set fire to two vehicles of the security forces.
