Fathi Bashaga, the designate Minister of Interior in the GNA, is planning to be the head of the new awaited government. That plan is agreed upon in a secret deal between Bashaga, Aqila Saleh the president of the parliament, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and the support of Egypt.
Meanwhile, the rest of the current government ministers, especially Fayez al-Sarraj and Khaled al-Mashri, have increased their visits to their counterparts in Turkey and Qatar.
Suspicious schemes, planned secretly between Sarraj and his backers on the one hand, and Fathi Bashaga with those who have similar interests on the other hand.
Schemes and hidden agendas
Bashaga’s plans were revealed early and he disclosed his intentions to be the prime minister, trying to appear as a statesman who cares about all Libyans, and taking off the gown of MB militia. However, that scheme of Sarraj, who is supported by Turkey and Qatar, still look vague and incomprehensible.
He submitted his resignation earlier, and stressed that before the end of October he will officially announce his resignation. But he later announced that he would not resign before general elections take place in Libya.
In the meantime, he made successive visits to both Doha and Ankara, raising questions regarding his relations and visits to countries that support and fund terrorism.
Experts and political analysts believe that Turkey and Qatar are secretly setting new schemes to be revealed during the political dialogues that will take place in Tunisia.
The experts also talked about Turkish Qatari efforts to reinforce the presence of MB organization in Libya in the coming period, as they fear that political tracks might lead to exclude the MB from the scene.
The MB has become a pariah in Libya; however, it controls the Libyan capital with the power of money and arms.
The visits of Al-Sarraj officials and MB representatives to Qatar and Turkey are made to coordinate positions on the ground. Khaled Al-Mashri, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Libyan State, has recently arrived in Doha, a few days after the visit of GNA Minister of Foreign to Qatar, and signing a security agreement for combating terrorism, in a violation of the Geneva Agreement.
Fayez al-Sarraj, President of GNA that is affiliated with the MB, has met Hakan Fidan, head of Turkish intelligence, hours before he announced that he will not resign, to discuss the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Libyan political dialogue forum in Tunisia, scheduled on November 9.
MB Mobilization
It looks that the visits of MB members to Qatar and Turkey will not stop as long as both countries are attempting to reinforce the presence of MB in the western region especially that the aim is one: finding a place for the MB in the coming phase in Libya.
Both countries are working to enable the MB to control the crisis, and they rely on Tunisia’s dialogue to spread ash on the eyes.
The MB looks at Libya as tit money source, due to its wealth and resources. Consequently, they are waging a strong struggle do dominate those resources. The MB is aware that it has become unwanted by the Libyans, but it is indifferent to this matter, given that they have the power of money and weapons that enable them to control the Libyans’ fate.
It is obvious that recent MB recent mobilization and their frequent visits to Qatar and Turkey were not just a coincidence, but there is plan being set by both countries to reinforce the presence of the MB during the coming period.
Although the international community has stressed that Libya’s security is linked with the entire world’s security, it did not take any step to prevent the Qatari-Turkish intervention in the Libyan crisis.
The visit of the MB member, al-Mashri, to Qatar, confirms the support that MB is getting from Turkey and Qatar. There is no doubt that the visit for the sake of coordinating the next political scene in Libya that will result of the dialogue in Tunisia. The results of the dialogue are expected to be in favor of the terrorist organization, especially after revealing the names of the members who will participate as most of them are MB and international criminals.
On the other hands, the visits of Sarraj, head of the GNA government, to Istanbul, which coincided with his announcement that he will not resign; were linked to a secret meeting with Fidan, in which significant questions were asked to Sarraj and he was criticized regarding ruling the country.
More suspicious moves in Libya
The Turkey-Qatar axis is considered as the most active axis in Libya. Both countries are strongly linked with the political Islam, the MB in particular that controls the GNA in Tripoli.
Both countries were involved in the Libyan conflict since 2011, where they played significant role in spreading chaos in the country.
The recent continuous Libyan rapprochement and the accelerated signs of consensus raise the concerns of this axis, whose movements have escalated in the Libyan arena in a suspicious scene.
The number of visits by the GNA officials to Turkey and Qatar has increased, in addition to signing new agreements that intend to ignite more discord and hostility in Libyan circles.
The Qatari role is represented in supporting Islamic groups with money and arms. Media reports said that the volume of funding that has arrived from Doha to the groups since 2011 amounted to about 750 million euros. It also supported figures, most of which were known to belong to the Islamic movement, such as Ali al-Sallabi, the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Abd al-Basit Ghuwaila, and Abd al-Hakim al-Hajj.
Turkey got involved in the Libyan conflict in support of the extremists loyal to it. In the past years, arms ships were caught many times on their way to Libya despite the international embargo. Turkey pushed thousands of mercenaries and terrorists to the Libyan territories to spread more violence and destruction. It also sped up signing agreements with the GNA to extend its influence and to plunder Libya’s wealth.
Agreement between both conflicting parties annoys Ankara and Doha
It is noteworthy that the Libyan Military Committee 5 + 5 +, signed the ceasefire agreement in Geneva on October 23, which provides for the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries, dismantling militias and suspending the agreements concluded between Turkish President Erdogan and al-Sarraj government in Tripoli. It also stipulated the formation of a military force with a limited number of regular soldiers under a room to be formed by the committee to act as a force that contributes to reducing the expected violations, provided that it provides the necessary resources to operate.
This Libyan agreement aroused Turkey’s annoyance, whose president expressed his doubts about the agreement, which observers considered as confirmation of Erdogan’s suspicious intentions and fears of losing influence in Libya.
Whenever Libyans made progress and political rapprochement through the dialogue sessions, Ankara and Doha loses new points in the implementation of their joint projects in the region, which means that the diplomatic moves of the GNA towards the solution reflect serious concerns about losing papers that GNA used for years to serve the Turkish-Qatari project in Libya.
On the Libyan political track, Tunisia is arranging to host 75 participants in the comprehensive political forum on November 9th, for which the UN mission held preparatory video meetings last Tuesday.
